MOVING FROM A PLACE OF STRENGTH VS FEAR (AND DESPAIR)
It's really Monday morning when I am posting this bc last night's attempt got stuck loading. This message stands the test of time though so here I am with it.
On the heels of SCOTUS stripping women of our rights to make choices about our own bodies, many of us have had a hard time focusing on anything else. It's left many of us feeling overwhelmed with fear, despair, anger, hopelessness and on and on. It's left many of us feeling stuck like my post attempt last night.
On Saturday, my husband John Griffiths and I were driving to go downhill mountain biking and I was caught up in all of those feelings. Thankfully, I suddenly realized that mindset - and lack of focus on navigating the path forward - would be the quickest route to me crashing out hard, landing hurt in a heap while I was going as fast as I could down a gnarly trail on my bike.
In that moment, I thought of the question I often ask myself and others during challenging times --> HOW CAN I MOVE FROM A PLACE OF STRENGTH VS FEAR?
In the face of the backdrop of the gnarly landscape in America I'm adding "DESPAIR" and posing that question here bc the question applies to those of us who are leading with integrity during this outrageous attack on women's rights with same sex marriage and more next in the line of fire.
HOW CAN WE AS AWARE, AUTHENTIC LEADERS MOVE FROM A PLACE OF STRENGTH VS FEAR & DESPAIR?
I'm not saying it is easy and I'm not saying we need to hide how we are feeling. I'm simply saying it calls us to consider that moving from a place of strength and using our voices and whatever degree of influence we have is more likely to positively impact those who are in our care and ourselves.
SO, AWARE & AUTHENTIC LEADERS ---> As we crack into this week let us find ways to be true to ourselves while being present for others so that we can focus on navigating the path forward and fighting for basic human rights.
